The 2025 Ford Bronco is almost here, and with it comes some serious legacy of its automotive dominance. But there’s a new vehicle that’s soon to hit the market to try and take the Bronco’s crown. Together we’ll look at both the Bronco, and the upcoming VW Scout Traveler to let you know which one is better. This is your 2025 Ford Bronco vs. VW Scout Traveler EV comparison.
Key takeaways
- With the VW Scout Traveler being so far away, it doesn’t make sense to wait for something that won’t be as good as the modern Bronco.
- The Bronco has a much lower starting price than a vehicle we know little about to justify its price.
- Even though the VW Scout Traveler is electric, it can’t match the range of the gas powered Bronco.
Is there going to be a 2025 Ford Bronco?
For 2025, the Bronco comes with some new features that help make it stand out. These are a new package that brings some vintage flair into the modern age and the Sasquatch off-roading package that gives your SUV even more capabilities to handle whatever is in your way.
How much does a 2025 Bronco cost?
Taking a look at the 2025 Bronco lineup will show that it comes in 9 trims. These trims are the:
- Base starting at $37,995
- Big Bend starting at $40,370
- Free Wheeling starting at $42,900
- Black Diamond starting at $46,760
- Outer Banks starting at $47,940
- Heritage Edition starting at $49,475
- Badlands starting at $50,095
- Stroppe Edition starting at $75,635
- Raptor starting at $90,035
Looking at the VW Scout Traveler, it’s estimated to start around $60,000. Being that it’s not out yet, and still a few years out, we don’t know what trim levels will go with it. We don’t yet know if it will even compare favorably with with rough and ready yet comfy Bronco.
When comparing the two models, the Scout is planted firmly between the Badlands and Stroppe Edition in terms of price, and those two trims aren’t exactly pushovers, making them hard to top.
The better of the two trims is the Stroppe Edition. Named after its Baja racing heritage, this trim is rooted deep in history. This edition comes race ready, eager to hit the trails, and the dunes. While an EV might be better for a daily driver, it’s hard to beat a gas powered engine at its own game.
If you’re not ready to tear down the track, and just want something smoother, then look for the Black Diamond package on the Big Bend trim. Car and Driver has recommended this because “for under $50,000, you get standard features such as Ford's G.O.A.T. drive modes, 32-inch tires, a powder-coated steel bumper, additional bash plates, and access to tons of additional factory options.”
How many miles per gallon does the Ford Bronco 2025 get?
When looking at the mileage that the Bronco gets, you’ll find that it will get 20 mpg combined. The Bronco is pretty even when it comes to mileage, getting 20 mpg in the city, and 21 on the highway. When paired with the 20.8 gallon gas tank, you can go up to 436 miles in the right conditions.
The EV Scout Traveler gets slightly less range with Scout saying that they anticipate 350-miles of driving range. This is pretty average with similar EVs on the market. And while it’s still impressive, it’s almost 100 miles less than the Bronco.
While the EV Scout Traveler is cool in theory, when you break it down like we did, you’ll find that the Bronco is just better. Coming with more range, starting at a price that is cheaper, and the most important thing is that it’s available THIS year.
